About the Role
We are seeking passionate, motivated, and skilled Community Organizer Interns to help expand our mission. As a Community Organizer, you will work directly with our team to identify key stakeholders, mobilize communities, and promote initiatives that address the root causes of violence. This role is a powerful opportunity to make a real impact, gain hands-on experience, and establish a network of influence within the community and beyond. Those interested in future careers in public service, nonprofit leadership, or elected office will find this role especially valuable. Community Engagement: Identify and engage with key community stakeholders, influencers, and residents to foster support for Silence The Violence initiatives.
Event Coordination: Assist in organizing and promoting community events, both in-person and virtual, that raise awareness and drive collective action against violence.
Advocacy and Outreach: Help design and implement outreach strategies to educate communities on violence prevention and support services.
Volunteer Mobilization: Recruit, train, and support volunteers for ongoing programs, with a focus on building sustainable, community-led teams.
Data Collection: Gather and report data on community needs, interests, and feedback to shape programs and tailor interventions.
Program Development: Contribute to our 'The Orange Mile' program by creating resource materials, safety guides, and templates for community-led initiatives.
Requirements
Passion for Community Building:Â A strong commitment to Silence The Violence's mission of addressing community violence through active intervention and engagement.
Excellent Communication Skills:Â Ability to articulate ideas clearly, listen to community needs, and connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
Proven Experience in Organizing:Â Demonstrated history in community organizing, volunteer coordination, advocacy, or related fields.
Internet Access & Tech-Savvy:Â Must have reliable internet and be comfortable using digital communication tools (Zoom, social media, etc.).
Growth-Oriented Mindset:Â Interest in a career in public service, nonprofit work, or community organizing. Aspiration to run for public office is a plus!
